Why we built Lypso
Payroll in Barbados is genuinely hard to get right. Rates change — the April 2025 RRF Levy caught a lot of businesses off-guard. NIS ceilings reset mid-year. TAMIS returns have a specific format that most global software doesn't know about. We kept hearing the same story from small business owners: "I do payroll in a spreadsheet because there's nothing built for us." So we built Lypso to be the thing that was missing — Caribbean-first, plain-language, and priced for teams of 5, not 500.

Frequently asked questions
An active employee is any employee who appears on at least one payroll run in your current billing month. Employees you've added but not yet paid, and any employees you've marked as inactive or terminated, do not count toward your plan limit. If you need to pause someone mid-year you can deactivate them in their profile at any time.
Yes. You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time — the change takes effect immediately and you'll only be billed the difference for the remainder of your billing period. Downgrading is also possible at your next renewal date, provided your active employee count fits within the lower plan's limit.
We'll give you plenty of notice before public launch. Early beta users keep their beta price for their first 12 months as long as their team size and account structure don't change materially. After that, you'll move to the standard pricing that's live at the time — we'll communicate that clearly before it happens. Your data, payroll history, and settings carry over automatically.
During beta, Lypso is completely free — no credit card required and no time limit. Beta access is invite-only while we onboard businesses carefully, so joining the waitlist is the fastest way in. Once you're approved you'll have full access to all features included in your plan tier at no cost until beta ends.
Annual billing is paid upfront for 12 months and works out to roughly 2 months free compared to paying monthly. For example, the Growth plan costs BDS$99/mo on monthly billing or BDS$990/year on annual billing — a saving of BDS$198. You can toggle between monthly and annual pricing above the plan cards to compare. Annual billing will be available at public launch; during beta, billing is not active.
Yes. You can download your payroll run history, payslips, NIS remittance reports, and TAMIS/PAYE exports at any time — they're yours. If you ever decide to leave Lypso, we'll provide a full export of your employee records and payroll data in a standard format so you're never locked in.
All plans include access to the Lypso Support Center with step-by-step guides, payroll explainers, and a plain-language "Guide me" mode built into the product itself. Growth plan users also get the Lypso Assistant in-app chatbot. Business plan subscribers receive priority onboarding support. For complex payroll questions, you can also connect with a Lypso Certified Payroll Partner — an independent payroll professional trained on the platform.
